Professor
Paul Olk, PhD, is senior associate dean for Faculty, Research and Accreditation as well as the chief knowledge officer at Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver. He is also a professor of management. Olk’s teaching experience spans across most management topics and audiences but mainly focuses on strategic management topics for graduate students. His research primarily examines the interaction of individual and organizational factors in the formation and management of strategic alliances.
Olk is currently engaged in a three-year National Science Foundation-funded research project that investigates open-source collaboration in the pharmaceutical industry. He is the author of two books, and his research has appeared in numerous edited books and leading journals, including Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Academy of Management Learning & Education, and Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.
Olk is the past president of the Western Academy of Management (2016–2017) and has also served the profession as the chair of the Academy of Management’s Technology and Innovation Management Division (2011–2012), as the co-founder and co-organizer of the Sustainability, Ethics and Entrepreneurship (SEE) conferences (2012–2015), and as a committee member for other professional associations. He has consulted for both large and small companies as well as nonprofit and government agencies.
Previously, Olk was on the faculty of the University of California, Irvine, and has been a visiting professor at National University of Singapore; at IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland; and a guest professor at South China University of Technology in Guangzhou, China. Before joining academia, Olk worked in several small businesses and organizations.
