Quality manager, Golden Malting

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background?

I was born in California, but moved every few years my whole life since my father was in the USAF. I’ve lived in Texas, South Carolina, Japan, Alaska, and Germany. My education is in chemistry. I worked in the semiconductor field prior to my current career in quality in the brewing industry. In my free time, I enjoy serving on the board of Colorado Dragon Boat, gardening, trying out new breweries, and traveling.

Why did you decide to pursue your MBA?

As I’ve progressed in my career, I wanted to make sure I had a strong foundation in leadership to better lead my team. As I’ve become more involved in strategic planning in my current role, I was eager to develop my business acumen in a more formal setting.

What made you choose MBA@Denver?

The focus on ethics at Daniels really attracted me to DU. The MBA@Denver online program allows me to work full time and directly apply the knowledge I’m learning in class to my job.

What has your experience been like collaborating with classmates in an online environment?

The opportunity to collaborate with people in different industries and backgrounds has been one of the most exciting parts of this program. I’ve been able to build lifelong relationships with so many passionate and brilliant people all at once.

What advice do you have for others considering this degree?

Don’t be intimidated! I was really worried about whether I’d be able to balance work and passion projects with an MBA. This program makes it entirely possible to do it all and be successful in your classes.

What was your favorite part of the immersion experience?

Being able to finally see and collaborate with my classmates and the staff in person was so incredible. It was really nice to finally be on campus.
